British Association for Cemeteries In South Asia (BACSA)
Formed in October 1976. The Association is involved with many activities
such as the setting up of local committees in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Burma, Sri Lanka, Malaysia etc to help maintain
and repair European Cemeteries and the building up of a Records archive in the Oriental and India Office Collections at the
British Library. There are also several other projects.
The Association has a newsletter called the "Chowkidar" distributed
free to members twice a year. There are also many other publications of interest on subjects such as social history and cemeteries
to name a couple.

Families In British India Society (FIBIS)

Briefly the primary aim of the Society is to help individuals research their ancestors in India and associated countries such
as Burma, those which are now Pakistan and Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Persia and the Persian Gulf and the islands linked to India,
for example Mauritius. FIBIS has a journal which contains brief, non-academic articles; a list of members' interests;
requests for help; exchanges of information; lists of publications and book reviews; advice on using archives, etc.
Meetings are held involving lectures on subjects relevant to Family History in India. There is an information
exchange service, where information can be passed on or be requested by other researchers. Much of this will be via the INDIA@Rootsweb
site. The annual subscription for membership is currently 10 GB Pounds for people living in the UK and Europe and
15 GB Pounds for people living abroad. Subscriptions should be sent to the Treasurer. Donald Jaques 25 Blacketts
