1860-1880 Madras. Elizabeth Baker and James Rath were married in Madras in 1867. Three years later, James Arthur Rath was born there 12/21/1870, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. He fell ill (so says family history) and left for Springfield MA. Am looking for any clues to Elizabeth or the original James Rath! Thanks for any help! Also researching BAKER.

On date of enlistment i.e. 12.4.1840 he was 19yrs and 5 months of age. Enlisted at Glasgow for Madras, India on 12.4.1840. Embarked for India on the ship Essex on 11.5.1840. Private 2nd Madras European Light Infantry 1841 and stationed at Secunderabad, India 1852. Corporal 3rd Madras Regiment 1853. Sergeant 3rd Madras European Regiment 1854. Q.M.S Unattached List 17.3.1858. Sergeant Major - 1860. Sergeant Major Pensioned 28.1.1864. GRAND FATHER: Thomas Lionel Ballantyne, son of David Ballantyne, born Madras, India 19.6.1902. GRAND MOTHER: Mary Ann Irene (Gibbs : Maiden name) Ballantyne, born at Cuttack, India 4.2.1899. Also, I need help to get marriage , and death certificates and other documents. Can anybody help?

Bombay 1851 - 1861. Marian Barber 'married' Ardaseer Cursetjee between these dates. He was in England in 1851 before returning to Bombay later that year. He returned to England in 1859 - 1861, and returned on retirement between 1863 till his death in 1877. Marian continued to live in Richmond Surrey till her death in 1899. Information is sought on where they met, what for the marriage took and where, and any other information about her.

Bengal 1872 to 1947 and probably before. Researching the family of Margaret Elizabeth BARTRAM. She married Daniel B HENWOOD in 1892 but he apparently abandoned her and she was considered to be a widow when she married Robert George Donald ATKINSON in 1904. They had two sons -- John Niels and Terrence Clive who was my husband's father. He was close to his cousins while in India and kept in touch with them in the UK when he moved to Australia. Two of Margaret's sisters married two of RGDA's brothers. Ellen Mary BARTRAM married Alexander Sydney ATKINSON and Sarah Caroline BARTRAM (or MONRO?) apparently married Allen John ATKINSON. RGDA was my husband's father and I am trying to trace the family arrival and history in India + trace and contact descendants in the UK. Have lost touch since the death of my father in law. Also researching ATKINSON, BENNETT, SMITH, PARMER and PECHE.

He served in the Border Regiment stationed in Fort William, Calcutta in 1939, where he married Ruby Flora Harrison, and had two children, Margaret and Roger Beacher. Whilst in the army he was stationed in various places including Poona and Ramgah. Also researching OWENS, HARRISON, KERR, WALTON & CLARKE.

1860 - 1900 MADRAS - Tamil Nadu - St Thomas Mount. I'm researching the Magrath family, originally from Surrey, UK. I know there were three girls - Emily Josephine Magrath, Elizabeth Eve Magrath and Geraldine Mary Magrath born in Madras, Tamil Nadu India in the 1840's. Elizabeth married Hugh Cracroft in 1867, in India. Emily married George T. Beasley in 1868, also in India and one of their sons was George Longfield Beasley who eventually married Florence Winifred Jackson. She was my great aunt. I am trying to establish whether there are members of these Magrath or Beasley families still resident in England, in an attempt to find out more about my aunt. My aunt is buried in what I assume is the Magrath family vault in Brookwood Cemetery in Woking, Surrey, UK, along with George Longfield Beasley and Charles Magrath Beasley.
