LUFFMAN Bengal 1840 to 1947. James Austen Luffman was a La Martiniere boy and defended the Lucknow Residency in 1857. He was supposed to have a brother John but no trace of him can be found. There is a chance he had another brother called William Collins Luffman. Both his( their) parents had died. James went into the Police and William became a surgeon returning to England 1n the mid 1870's. James died in India and his son continued in the police. Captain Theodore Lyons (1788-1825), (by Catherine Walrond) possibly served in the Bengal Army.

George Rose Lyons (c.1796-1828), (by Catherine Walrond) H.E.I.C.S.

Captain Edward Robbins Lyons (1809-1849), (by Elizabeth Robbins).

Lt-Col Samuel Athill Lyons (1805-1881), (by Elizabeth Robbins) possibly served with the 34th Bengal Native infantry.

Colonel Edmund Willoughby Lyons (c.1831-1889), Bombay Staff Corps, eldest son of the above Humphrey.

Major George Maughan Lyons (c.1835-1878), youngest son of the above Humphrey; died in Bombay.
